Bipolar Weather

Bipolar Weather

Being from Minnesota I am used to drastic temperature changes. Yet I guess some people can't necessarily handle this. As I have heard, the weather switching from blaring hot to really cold the next day is totally normal for here in Nebraska. So waking up this morning I expected it to again be 99 degrees and humid, just like it has been all week. To my surprise it was cooler when I stepped out of my dorm hall at 8:00 with my friends to walk to class. I honestly thought it wouldn't last very long since it has been like this before; cool in the morning, burning hot a few days later. Yet today it has consistently stayed this cool. Personally, I love it. I'm sure most people on campus love it too, since I saw so many people in shorts and tank tops this morning, then ending up changing into sweats. However, it really isn't that cold at all. Yes, it dropped from 98 degrees yesterday to 65 today. I love the sound of 65 degree weather. Reminds me of beautiful days in the late summer/fall back in Minnesota. I have been waering my running shorts and a t-shirt all day. compared to most people on campus I seem nuts. I even got looks walking to my classes. Every person, and I mean EVER person either has a sweatshirt or pants on, a lot even have both. Who cares if I look silly, this is my kind of weather. I guess this just shows my Minnesotan side.

I have always been convinced I am part Polar Bear. Why? Well I am Minnesotan for one. I love winter, fall and winter are my favorite seasons. In the winter I typically tend to stand around in basketball shorts and a t-shirt and sometimes a sweatshirt. Especially after basketball practices in high school. I would stand in the parking lot with my friends and just talk while our cars warmed up enough, typically it was 20 degrees or colder, more so on the colder end. The final reason I'm convinced I'm part Polar Bear is that I like to swim in the lake as soon as the ice comes off. I know its weird but I kinda have made it into a tradition every year. when it is warm enough outside, the dock are in the lake, and all the ice is gone, I like to go jump in. I'm nuts I know, but that's just me. That is who I am.

Thanks for reading.
Sorry I'm not doing one everyday. I have this annoying stuff called homework that happens to be a priority for me :)

New sport... new bruises

New sport... New brusies

I honestly didn't know what to make this next post about. However I decided to type about Rugby. Rugby is the newest sport I have taken up. If you didn't already figure this out or already know I am a absolute sports nut! I have played sports my entire life and haven't gone a year without playing one or two. So I decided why not doing something different.

Rugby, lets just say, is a extremely intense sport. The easiest, but worst way to describe it is that it is a mix of football and soccer, without the protection. That is totally inaccurate. I can't even explain it in words. If someone asks me what rugby is I start going into specifics. Then that just makes them even more confused! Mainly you just tackle the person with the ball.

Any who, it has its dangerous points. We had our first game of the season on Friday (August 31) we player extremely well. especially since for about half the team it was their first game or rugby ever. (Me included) It showed me that it is easier for me to learn a sport by playing it rather than watching. I was in the starting line up for the game and was unbelievably confused! I had no idea what I was supposed to do. Yet having the older girls with me helped so much. They were able to tell me where on the field to go, where to run when I had the ball, and also relied on me to tackle the girl with the ball on penalty plays. Sadly I was taken out of the game early at the last 15 minutes because I got my head rammed into the ground a few to many times. They wanted to make sure I was concussion free and that they could keep me for the rest of the season.

I was also blessed with the most glorious black eye. I take so much pride in this black eye. The older girls actually are jealous because a rookie at her first game isnt supposed to get a black eye, when they have been playing for a few years and hadn't gotten one yet!

My Lovely Black eye :D

If you ever get the chance to play rugby, and feel you are up to the challenge I strongly encourage it! It is a ton of fun! :D

Thanks again! I'm out!
Go Huskers! :D
